Classic SeedBalls are our “many seeds in one” format — small spheres that combine several seeds with a blend of biochar, clay and natural binders. Instead of building around a single seed, we form a tiny micro-mix where multiple seeds share protection and a favourable start. The coating shields them from birds and wind, reduces seed loss and keeps them in place until rain and moisture soften the shell. Inside, biochar works like a moisture and nutrient buffer, giving every germinating seedling a better chance to push its first roots into the soil.
This format is ideal wherever you want life to appear in clusters rather than precise, single plants. Classic SeedBalls are perfect for wildflower meadows, dike slopes, field edges, road verges and other open areas where a natural, dense look is more important than strict spacing. One ball can easily produce a small bouquet of flowers or a tuft of grasses, quickly covering bare ground, shading the soil and competing with weeds. That makes them a strong tool for fast visual impact, pollinator support and erosion control with minimal labour.
Because each ball can carry several species, Classic SeedBalls are also great for ready-made biodiversity mixes. We can combine early and late-flowering plants, different root depths and varying heights in a single ball, so as they germinate you automatically get layers of structure and colour. This multi-species approach supports insects, birds and small wildlife over a longer season, while also building more resilient plant communities that are better able to handle stress, grazing or mowing.
Just like with our biochar-core format, Classic SeedBalls can be tailored with different “levels” of biochar, minerals and organic nutrients to match your soil and project goals. For nutrient-poor dikes or road verges, we can include a bit more starter nutrition to help plants establish; for sensitive natural areas, we keep mixes very low-input and closer to the native baseline. In every case, we adjust the recipe -seed mix, ball size and nutrient levels, so each Classic SeedBall is matched to the species inside and the conditions on site.
