Mini SeedBalls (or mini-pellets) are our “light and fast” format — tiny granules where seeds sit on or very close to the surface of a compact biochar–binder core. Instead of being deeply enclosed, the seeds are kept where they can quickly feel light and moisture, which is crucial for many fine grasses, herbs and wildflowers that dislike heavy covering. The pellet protects them during handling and sowing, but once it meets rain, the outer layer softens and lets the seed germinate almost as if it had been sown on bare soil.

This format is ideal wherever you need very even, gentle sowing over large areas. Mini SeedBalls flow smoothly through small spreaders, drone seeders and standard agricultural equipment, making them perfect for meadows, field overseeding, lawn renovation, flower strips or under-sowing between crop rows. Because they’re small and numerous, you can apply them in a thin, uniform layer without disturbing the soil, helping to build plant cover while keeping existing structure and microbiology intact.

Mini SeedBalls work especially well for species that have tiny seeds or surface-germinating behaviour: many meadow flowers, low grasses, herbal leys and delicate companion plants. By holding each seed in a small pellet of biochar and natural binders, we give it a micro-dose of moisture buffering and physical protection without burying it too deep. This improves germination rates in real conditions (wind, birds, uneven surfaces) compared with broadcasting bare seed directly from a bag.

They also play nicely with our other formats. Mini SeedBalls can be used on their own or even incorporated inside larger Classic SeedBalls, combining precise micro-pellets with multi-seed clusters in one product. As with all our SeedBalls, we can tune the recipe — biochar content, organic additives and gentle nutrient levels, to match your soil and habitat goals. The result is a flexible tool: from fine, uniform sowing to layered combinations inside Classic SeedBalls, giving each species the conditions it prefers while keeping application simple.
